URBANPHOTO GALLERY
Tuesday, November 29, 2005 - Christopher DeWolf

It's been a tumultuous weekend at Urbanphoto. The discussion forum was hacked on Saturday night and its contents deleted. Even though it's now back up and running, we'll have to start from ground zero in building up a collection of interesting posts and lively discussions.

But there's still a reason to be happy: the Urbanphoto Gallery, a new section that has been in the works for months. From now on, all of Urbanphoto's photographs -- from Montreal, Hong Kong, Macau and, eventually, Vancouver, Calgary and elsewhere -- will be available for viewing in the Gallery. Most photos aren't labelled yet, but when they are, you'll be able to quickly search for photos by neighbourhood, street, theme or search for a specific shot. Also, all of the photos posted on the main page's photoblog will be integrated into the Gallery (you can see them by clicking on the Photo archives link at left) as will the featured photoessays from guest photographers.

All photos in the gallery, like the photos posted on the main page, will be open for comments. Ultimately, I hope this will give Urbanphoto a new, more interactive character. Enjoy!
