It is at this intersection the Downtown Eastside comes together. One corner has the police headquarters. Another has a bank that deals exclusively with welfare recipients and junkies. Another has the ubiquitous, barred-up convenience store in a gorgeous apartment building. The last one has the Carnegie Library, heart of the Eastside. There's always people dancing out front to happy music, mingling amongst the drug dealers offering you blow and rock and stuff to clog your veins and screw your mind.

Meanwhile, volunteers keep the underground public washrooms here spic and span, commuters pass by on buses admiring the architecture and little old Chinese ladies hobble to their houses with carts full of groceries.
