    It’s a bit like POME/POMMY there are many explanations – most useful I’ve heard is CHeltenham AVerage – Cheltenham’s quite pucker – how now brown cow, oh do take me home james – thus the ‘average’ Cheltenham citizens are the polar opposite.

    Think shaved heads, adidas (or stone washed jeans)-wearing, foul-mouthed, lager-louts.
