		<description>All too often criticism of China is dismissed as China-bashing, but it&#039;s clear that something profound is happening there. It would be foolish to ignore its consequences. Patrick&#039;s post the day after yours was certainly angrier and more accusatory than Burtynsky&#039;s photos or &quot;Manufactured Landscapes,&quot; but I think his comments about the hollowness of change in China are pretty accurate. 

Then again, who knows. I&#039;ve never been to China, I have only peered at it from its doorstep.</description>
