Montreal seems to have all kinds o history poking through its pavement. I had a car run over some of my groceries a couple weeks ago when my bike hit an old streetcar tie on Ste Catherine and my buns flew out of the basket.

That’s De Gaspé, in between Saint-Denis et Saint-Laurent, and just north of Laurier, south of Saint-Viateur.
The shops you see are full of textile workers. But at the rate things go in here, it’ll be lofts, preps and Toronto before you know it.

More precisely, the photo is looking north on de Gaspé from Maguire. The grand plans for lofts etc. are here: (see in particular the PDF documents listed at the lower left of the page). The first transformation is coming soon. The vacant lot barely visible at the right of the photo will be used for social housing.
