Mary Soderstrom

Mary Soderstrom is a Montreal writer. She is the author of eight books, including her most recent, Green City: People, Nature and Places, which explores the relationship between nature and cities. Her other books include The Truth Is, a collection of fourteen stories set in Montreal’s Outremont and Mile End neighbourhoods, and The Words on the Wall: Robert Nelson and the Rebellion of 1837, a non-traditional biography of an English leader in the Lower Canada Rebellion. Currently, Mary is working on The Violets of Usambara, a novel set in Montreal and East Africa.

Mary was born in Walla Walla, Washington; she studied at the University of California at Berkeley in the late 1960s. She has lived in Montreal since 1968.
