Christopher Szabla has been a contributor to Urbanphoto since its founding in 1999.
Born near Buffalo, New York, he moved with his family to metro Boston at age twelve, and later departed for New York City. While he enjoyed Manhattan’s charming social vernacular of hostile misanthropy as a history student at Columbia University, he inexplicably returned for a few years and earned a law degree from Harvard.
At the moment, he’s living in New York again. When not bouncing around the US Northeast, he has lived for brief periods in Berlin and Cairo and has traveled through Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
His writing has appeared in Maisonneuve and his photography has been used or featured by France24, the West Harlem Art Fund, and Cha: An Asian Literary Journal. Take a look at his photostream on Flickr or contact him at cjs2111 [at] gmail.com.
