19. Looking north down Alta Vista Terrace (1904, Joseph C. Brompton), from Grace Street. Alta Vista's developer, Samuel Eberly Gross, was inspired by a trip to London to create a row of Georgian row houses in Chicago. The forty houses mirror one another diagonally across the street. Alta Vista was the first declared historic district in Chicago.
